PMI Dinner Meeting Wednesday, April 7, 2010
Hello Project Management Professionals, ________________________________________ Our on-line reservation system is up and running. Follow the instructions to RSVP for this dinner meeting. If you register on-line then you do not need to send an email to me. We have allowed for payment in advance by using either a credit card or PayPal when registering on-line. We will not accept either of these payment types for paying at the door. Specifically, if you elect to pay at the door we will only accept either cash or a check. ________________________________________ We are proud to offer our next dinner meeting at Normandie Farm Restaurant located at 10710 Falls Road, Potomac, MD (Phone: 301-983-8838, web site http://www.popovers.com ) on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. Directions: Take Rt 270 to the Falls Road exit. Proceed south towards Potomac. Normandie Farm is 3 1/2 miles on the right. Alternate directions: take the beltway, RT 495 to exit 39. Proceed west on River Road 3 1/2 miles. Turn right onto Falls Road and proceed 3/4 mile to Normandie Farm on the left. Come and learn how to improve your communications skills from one of the best, Carl Pritchard! Carl will explain the Four C's of Communications. Speaker: Carl Pritchard, PMP Carl Pritchard is the principal and founder of Pritchard Management Associates. He is recognized lecturer, author, researcher, and instructor. As a lecturer he is considered a leading authority on risk and communications management and presents on a variety of management topics, ranging from project essentials to the complexities of network diagramming and team motivation. As an author and researcher, he has published articles on project management language, advances in risk management, and on the challenges of training on the Internet. His work as an instructor has taken him around the world, training with some of the leading international training organizations, as well as for private clients and the Project Management Institute®. He is the U.S. Correspondent for the U.K. project management journal, Project Manager Today.
Carl has recorded presentations for international conferences on DVD and developed on-line training for the Project Management Institute. He was also the architect of ESI International's landmark programs in distance learning and authored (with J. Davidson Frame) the project management CD-ROM, Managing Projects in Organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors for ProjectConnections.Com and recently recorded a 9-CD audio training program The Portable PMP Prep with J. LeRoy Ward.
Carl has served as a semi-final judge in PMI's annual "Project of the Year" competition, and served the Federal Highways Administration as a judge in their biennial project competition.
Carl regularly consults and coaches on project management, presentation skills, risk, distance learning, and course development with a variety of organizations. He serves on the board of directors and presents podcasts for ProjectConnections.com. He holds a B.A. from the Ohio State University, and is a Project Management Professional™ as certified by the Project Management Institute.
This dinner meeting presentation will be worth one (1) "category 3" PDU. The following menu selections are being offered for dinner;
1. Roasted Boneless Breast of Chicken, Raspberry &Walnut Sauce, 2. Steamed Fresh Vegetable Plate, Sauce Hollandaise (on side), or 3. Grilled 8.5 oz Filet Mignon, Sauce Béarnaise. Dinner also includes:
• Caesar Salad • Normandie Farm Golden Hot Popovers (a specialty - refer to their web site) • Hot Coffee or Hot Tea • Mashed Potatoes and Carrots (for entrees 1 and 3) • Poached Pears with Vanilla Ice Cream, Raspberry and Chocolate Drizzle
The cost for dinner is $30 for PMI Montgomery County, MD Chapter members and $40 for all others. Payment by cash or check is expected at the door of the meeting (unless prepaid during registration). Reservations are required. Please RSVP no later than 5:00 PM Sunday, April 4, 2010. If you RSVP and then discover that you will be unable to attend then please send me an email at siegc@verizon.net telling me to cancel your registration. Note: There will be two "job tables" for this dinner meeting for those seeking a new project/job and for those seeking to hire a project manager for a project/job opportunity! Please feel free to bring copies of resumes or job postings to share with others. We will continue to use the "two dot" system to indentify attendees who are looking for new opportunities (green dots) and those seeking to hire PMs (orange dots). We also will allow the "orange dot" attendees to briefly describe their open positions during the announcements just prior to the feature presentation.
